PASTOR'S CORNER
What is Divine Intervention?
The word Divine means of, from, or like God or a god; devoted to God; and sacred. Intervene, means to interfere; come
between so as to prevent or modify the result a course
of events. Intervention, is the act or
instance of intervening or mediation. May I therefore suggest that Divine Intervention means mediation from God with a view to modifying
the result of a course of events. God is about to modify the result of a course
of events in your life, to ensure that His presence by your side will dislodge
the obstacles, which have obstructed your progress. This month, your struggles will come to an end and you will experience exceptional results
in every area of your life.
God
intervenes:
- when His
children are in danger (Psalm 20:6, 25:15, I Kings 17:14)
- to effect
change
- to promote
and elevate (Daniel 3:30)
- to allow
His glory to be seen (II Kings 4:2-7)
- to show
that He is God (I Kings 18:1, 18:39, 18:44)
- prove that
nothing confuses Him or rises above Him
here
are four things, which you may do to activate God’s divine intervention in your
life. II Chronicles 20:17 says, ‘you won’t have to lift a hand in this battle; just stand firm,
Judah and Jeruslaem, and watch God’s saving work for
you take shape. Don’t be afraid, don’t waver. March out boldly tomorrow…God is with you…’
1. Stop
fighting your own battles. Trust
in God and know that nothing is impossible for Him. When we stop relying on ourselves and look up
to God, we automatically invite divinity into humanity and ask God to do
what only He is capable of doing.
2. Be obedient. Obey God’s commands
willingly. In I Kings 17,
when the widow of Zarepath met the prophet Elijah , she was about to cook her last meal and die. Elijah instructed her to first cook a meal
for him and then cook for herself and her son. Although there was not enough for all three of them, she obeyed and verse 16 says that ‘…the barrel of
meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail….’ May I suggest that God is seeking obedient
hearts to enable Him to intervene. This month if we do as He instructs, we will experience His divine intervention.
3. Stand still. Do not fret. Last month, we examined the armour of God, in Ephesians 6:13. It says, ‘…wherefore take unto you the
whole armour of God that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and
having done all, to stand.’ If
we intend to win the war against Satan, we cannot operate according to our
circumstances and emotions. We have to
ignore the predicament and have faith that God is able to fight all our
battles. Faith invites God into our
lives and when He appears every situation that is contrary to His word has to
change. Every tomorrow has two handles
and we choose, which to use. We can either use anxiety or faith. Only look to God for help. The bible says, stand still and see the
salvation of God. This month,
every issue in our lives will bow to divine intervention. Simply stand with
God and become outstanding.
4. Praise Him. To usher in the presence of God during
troubled times, simply praise Him and He will be there. Where praise exists, God’s presence is
tangible and when He is present, the devil has to relinquish his hold. When God is pleased with our praise, He
withholds nothing from us.
