The Shepherd! The Psalmist knew quite well that provided the Lord was his shepherd, provided he kept his eyes focused on the shepherd and not others, not only would he lack for nothing, but the Shepherd would lead him.

Even in the darkest of times, confidence in the Shepherd who knows the way, who is capable of keeping and comforting you even in the valley, compels you to worship. Worship looks beyond the crisis of the moment and looks to God who is worthy of praise regardless.
